According to the verification of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Department of Home Affairs, previously, on the morning of January 10, Mr. Le Van Cuong (born 1983, residing in Thong Bai village, Truong Lam commune, Thanh Hoa province) - Head of the electrical team of Lionas Metals Co., Ltd. (address in Nghi Son ward) - and another person proceeded to connect at the power cabinet of the factory.

After connecting, realizing that the electrical system was not safe for others, Mr. Cuong took a sign (size 10cm x 15cm), made of mica plastic, the back is painted with aluminum, with the words "Forbidden to turn on electricity" to hang on the switch head.

During the process of hanging the sign, due to carelessness, the warning sign touched two metal bars of the switch, leading to electric shock causing an explosion, causing burns to both hands of Mr. Le Van Cuong.

Immediately after the accident occurred, the company promptly took the victim to the emergency room and treated him at Hop Luc International General Hospital. After 10 days of treatment, Mr. Cuong's health was basically stable and he was discharged.

During the verification process, functional agencies determined that the cause of the accident was that the worker did not fully use personal protective equipment, operated improperly according to safety procedures, and performed work in an area with electricity without completely disconnecting the power source. In addition, the company did not fully arrange a system of signs, direction signs, regulations, and safe operating procedures in the area, and equipment with strict requirements for safety and occupational hygiene.

Through verifying the incident and comparing the regulations, Thanh Hoa functional sectors affirmed that the above labor accident belongs to the investigation authority and responsibility of the employer, Lionas Metals Co., Ltd. Therefore, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requested the company to seriously learn from experience; urgently conduct a labor accident investigation in accordance with procedures; fully fulfill responsibilities to the injured worker; and report the results to state management agencies according to regulations.

The Company also needs to review and fully supplement signs, instruction signs, regulations, and safe operating procedures in areas, machinery, and equipment with strict requirements on safety and occupational hygiene; strengthen propaganda and training on labor safety for workers at factories.

Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, on January 10, Hop Luc International General Hospital received and treated a patient with severe burns due to an electrical accident.
